Theodolite is an antique topographic instruments used for terrestrial observations for measure horizontal and vertical angles. This instrument includes a base, a telescope, two graduated circles, a compass, regulation descending screws and small microscopes for reading circles.

The F.lli Koristka firm was established in Milan in 1881/1882 by two brothers originally from Poland, and soon it became one of the most important manufacturers of optical instruments (binoculars and microscopes), distinguished by the high quality of the lenses on their products. During the First World War it produced a binoculars for the officers of the Royal Navy: the Marenostrum; but after this conflict, however, partly because of reduced production, the company went through a period of crisis, which led to the acquisition in 1929 by the Galileo, that bought the brand and laboratories. However, the production of microscopes and binoculars with Koristka mark continued until after the Second World War.
