Mercury barometer is an antique measuring instrument and it was very used before the invention of aneroid barometer. A small iron or glass weight on the level of mercury in the short part of siphon, goes up and down together with the level of liquid. A thread connects weight and pulley and it’s kept tight by a counterweight. In the centre of pulley they are fixed two pointers: the first one moves on dial following changes of atmospheric pressure; the other one, fixed, makes possible to read changes of pressure by a regulation screw. On dial they are indicated seven atmospheric conditions. Barometric pipe and its mechanism are located in a space behind.
