1493378436Code 5669 Aviation compassAviation compass with azimuth circle. Made in the thirties for the British Air Force Ministry. Very good condition and working. Compass diameter cm 10 - inches 3.93, height 6 cm - 2.36 inches.

The Air Force Ministry was a department of the British government with responsibility to handle the affairs of the Royal Air Force since 1914.

The first real flight happened in 1903, when the Wright brothers made fly - and keep in the air for 12 seconds - a glider with a motor of 16 horsepower at Kill Devil Hill in North Carolina, USA. But the father of aviation, by the scientific community and aeronautics, is considered Alberto Santos-Dumont, who, during a flight on November 12, 1906, has made to take off a machine heavier than air without external help (the Wright brothers had instead used a sort of catapult to take off). The first Italian aircraft was built by Aristide Faccioli in 1908.
