1528473736Code 6076 RAF pocket compassPocket compass, WWI for RAF officers made of chromed brass in the shape of a pocket watch. On the compass card you read, REG N. 416645, while the number 6450 is engraved on the cover. The compass is fitted with a snap-on cover with release button inside the ring. Compass card with eight winds. Excellent condition fully functional. Diameter 4.5 cm - 1.77 inches, thick 1.8 cm - 0.7 inches.

The design no. 416645 was published on page 1318 of the Official Journal of patents dated 30th September 1903. The owners were Francis Barker & Son, of 12 Clerkenwell Rd, London. F. Barker & Son was founded in London by Francis Barker (1820-1875) in 1846. In 1848 he founded Groves and Barker with his friend Richard Groves, who died in 1864. About one year after his death Groves & Barker was absorbed into the F. Barker & Son., that also took over the J & G Simms.
