1582884676Code 6572 Small globeGerman small terrestrial globe Erdglobus by prof. Paul Räth made in the 1950s, turned wooden base and paper mache sphere.Very good condition. Height 19 cm, sphere diameter 11 cm.

The Räth firm, a globemaking workshop, was established in 1917 by Paul Räth (1881-1929). After his death the firm was acquired by Professor Doktor Arthur Krause, a Leipzig geographer. This firm works still today, survived two world wars and the dissolution of the DDR. Some globes from Paul Räth’s workshop are exhibited today in important museums, like the first globe illuminated with electrical light made in 1921 exhibited in the Globe Museum of the Vienna National Library.
