In addition to the territorial map, the ocean currents and the main trade routes of the period are depicted. Base in turned wood and sphere in paper mache covered with the 12 spindles and the two caps on paper printed by engraving on copper plate and watercoloured. Height 39 cm – 15.4 inches, sphere diameter 18 cm – 7.1 inches. In good condition, some signs of wear, very good readability.
Columbus was founded in 1909 in Berlin by Paul Oestergaard, nephew of Peter J. Its mission "A globe for every home" led the company to export all over the world within a few years of its foundation, producing globes in 24 different languages.
