It is an instrument that measures the flow of air and is used to detect and measure its speed. Very good condition and fully functional. Instrument diameter 10.5 cm - 4.13 inches, thickness 4.5 cm - 1.77 inches. Case 12x6x12.7 cm - 4.72x2.36x5 inches.
Gabriel Davis in 1779 established the family business of Davis Derby in Leeds as a manufacturer of optical, surveying and mathematical instruments. After his apprenticeship, John Davis joined his uncle’s family business. By 1833 he established his own business as an optician and manufacturer of optical and philosophical instruments; when he died in 1873 his son Henry took over the business keeping its name John Davis & Son. The company was very active abroad: Australia, Canada, China, Japan and South Africa. In 1900 Henry’s brother, Herbert, was given a 4-year contract to sell the company’s products in the US through a branch office in Baltimore. This branch office was so successful, that in 1912 Herbert Davis resigned and formed his own company Davis Instruments of Baltimore that continued to manufacture many Davis Derby products manufactured by that company still today.

Do you provide an authenticity certificate/expertise?
Of course! The legislative decree n. 42/2004 stipulates that who sells works of art or historical and archaeological items has the obligation to deliver to the purchaser the documents attesting to the authenticity of the object, or at least to submit the documents relating to the probable attribution and origin. Antik Arte & Scienza provides an expertise (as warranty) that contains a description, period and assignment or the author, if known, of the item.
