Built by the O.R.I.S. of the F.lli Ingg FERRERO of Savona. In its original pressed leather box with handle and double lock complete with key. Worldwide patented instrument for the quick and safe calculation of the dimensions of reinforced concrete structures. The instrument consists of a quadrant made up of numerous concentric rings on which the variables to be set are indicated and a crank with eight buttons that can be raised or lowered to allow calculations, an instruction booklet explains them in a very analytical way with examples and diagrams for correct use. Excellent condition, fully functional. Box size cm 32x31.5x20 - inches 12.59x12.4x7.87.
The efficacy of slide rule as instrument for multiply or divide quickly and also for square roots etc. was appreciated just at the end of XVIII century. There were many kinds for different activities, for example for measure wood, iron bars, barrels, live-stock, wine and alcohol taxes. They were made slide rules for chemical equivalence, for calculate rents, barometric heights, time for photographic exposure.
It is assumed that in XIX century they were used more than 250 kinds of slide rules.
