The amygdala is a bifacial tool obtained by chipping the two opposite faces of the stone itself. It’s a rock composed mostly of silica dark gray, black, beige or brown. Its main characteristic is that it can be chipped becoming particularly sharp: this characteristic, in addition to its strength, made one of the first stones used for the manufacture of weapons and work tools. The flint was used for a long time even after the introduction of copper, especially in the implementation of objects linked to particular ceremonies, such as for knives used by priests in circumcision.
