Christoph Weigel (1654-1725) was a German engraver and publisher. In 1698 he began working as a self publisher. At Nuremberg he worked during the preparation of its maps closely with the geographer and cartographer Johann Baptist Homann Empire (1664-1724). We can remember various atlases by him including the Atlas Scolasticus in 1712 and the Urbis Terrarum veteribus cogniti in 1720; in this work is contained isolario titled Insularum Corsicae Sardiniae Melitae accurate descriptio ex mente veterum geographorum, presented here. Weigel editions continued even after 1725, thanks to his widow, who has published several works until 1734.
