The depiction of a stylized bollard wrapped in a cord is used for grades of the Military Navy. Nineteenth century, France. Original patina. Width cm 23 - inches 9. Very good condition.
Bollard is the nautical term used to describe a short and stocky column, which is located on the docks of the ports and on the decks of boats, which are tied or wrapped in the mooring cables. The bollard can be made of metal, stone, wood, and in the upper part is mushroom-shaped or ends with such a shape as to prevent the cable from coming off from the mooring when it is in traction.
