Galilei never said that telescope was his own invention, but Della Porta, feeling defrauded of this invention, in a letter to Federico Cesi wrote that telescope was a stupid and simple thing and he had just spoken about it in his work De Refractione. But when Galilei showed the telescope to some senators of the Venice Republic the surprise was enormous, but it was small the reward for Galilei: the Republic didn’t buy this telescope because some councillors said that some similar instruments were just sold with lower prices; Galilei obtained simply an increase in salary and the confirmation as teacher in Padua where he taught mathematics.
