1749483996Code 8154e Color PrintingColor print on cardboard from the 1950s depicting a single-engine Macchi L3 seaplane, later modified and renamed M3. Designed in 1916 by Carlo Felice Buzio and built in Varese by the company Anonima Macchi-Nieuport, which later became Aeronautica Macchi. Mounted on a hardboard and glass support with hooks. Good condition, some stains, abrasion on the lower right. Measurements 60x2x29 cm – inches 23.6x0.7x11.4. This is a type of aircraft built for the Royal Navy which used them during the First World War, for aerial reconnaissance, maritime patrol, as convoy escort and during 1917 they were used as bombing seaplanes. It was then used in photoreconnaissance as it was equipped with cameras for aerial photogrammetry which served to inform the General Staff in real time on the situation of enemy forces. In 1919 this aircraft was used to connect Buenos Aires with Asuncion in Paraguay for the first time and then donated to the Paraguayan government. Length 8.08 meters, wingspan 10.25 m, speed 145 kmh, autonomy 600 km. Designed by Giorgio Bigozzi and colored by Massimo Jacoponi, both students in the post-war period of the art high school in Rome.
