The hub bears the following markings: N 31, serial number H 94 7 02P, drawing codes 14-9-42, construction date Good condition, signs of use. Dimensions: 270 x 31.5 x 12 cm - 106 x 12.4 x 4.7 inches.

The first proper airplane saw the light of day in 1903, when the Wright brothers successfully flew—and held aloft for 12 seconds—a glider-like craft equipped with a 16-horsepower engine at Kill Devil Hill in North Carolina, USA. However, part of the scientific and aeronautical community considers Alberto Santos-Dumont to be the father of aviation. During a flight on November 12, 1906, he successfully launched a heavier-than-air aircraft autonomously (the Wright brothers had instead used a sort of catapult to take off). The first Italian airplane was built by Aristide Faccioli in 1908.
